Ukrainian forces target checkpoint, civilians menaced

The Ukrainian forces opened fire on the area of the checkpoint Maryinka to the west of Donetsk while the civilian population was there. This was announced today by the Vice-Commander of the DPR Operational Command, Eduard Basurin.
"Yesterday at 10:45 the Ukrainian side carried out another provocation in the area of Maryinka checkpoint. At the time of the accumulation of civilians at it, the checkpoint was fired on from a large-caliber machine gun, after which the Ukrainian side unilaterally closed the entry and exit from it," Basurin said. "We did not react to this provocation and did not open retaliatory fire."
He specified that at the time of the shelling, representatives of the OSCE mission were present in the vicinity of the checkpoint. In this regard, the representative of the command urged them to conduct an investigation into the fact of this shelling.
