The Oktyabrsky District Court of the city of Poltava obliged the Central Department of the State Registration of Civil Status Acts in Poltava to recognize the document issued in the DPR.
The decision was made on June 16, 2016, but only yesterday it was widely publicized when a famous Ukrainian lawyer Andrey Portnov announced this on his Facebook page, referring to the Unified State Register of Judicial Decisions.
In May last year, a woman asked the court to establish the fact of her brother's death in Donetsk so that she could obtain death certificates. At the same time she pointed out that it was impossible to obtain a death certificate in the department of state registration of acts of civil status, since "the fact of death occurred on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine".
The court established that the applicant's brother had actually died in Donetsk as a result of suicide. At the same time, the court recognized a death certificate, "issued by the Kirovsky Department of Registration of Civil Status Acts of Donetsk by the State Registration Chamber of the Ministry of Justice of the Donetsk People's Republic."
As a result, the court ordered the Central Department of the State Registration of Civil Status Acts in Poltava to conduct a state death registration in the Donetsk People's Republic.
