The Ukrainian forces began preparations for the seizure of the villages of Viktorovka and Staromariyevka in the frontline zone in the Mariupol direction. This was announced today by Vice-Commander of the DPR Operational Command Eduard Basurin, referring to the reconnaissance data.
"The headquarters of the 28th separate mechanized brigade, on the orders of the commander of the Donetsk task force, Vishnevsky, is working on the reduction of the inter-position space between the AFU and units of the DPR Armed Forces in the vicinity of the villages of Viktorovka and Staromariyevka by seizing these settlements in the grey zone," Basurin said.
According to the data of the republican intelligence service, local administrations are already conducting polls among residents of these settlements with a view to identifying free houses for the subsequent resettlement of servicemen of Ukraine.
"We call on the international community to resolutely condemn the actions of the Ukrainian authorities, and the observers of the OSCE SMM - to pay close attention to these two sites of the area," the Vice-Commander added.
We recall that since the adoption of the Package of Measures on implementation of the Minsk agreements (February 12, 2015), the Ukrainian Armed Forces regularly carry out seizures of the territory controlled by the DPR. Contrary to the peaceful plan, for almost three years after the enabling of the "Minsk-2", the AFU took about ten settlements under their control.
The last time the capture took place in the night of November 22, 2017, when the Ukrainian military occupied the villages of Gladosovo and Metallist (in Ukraine called Travnevoye) in the Gorlovka area. The Kiev forces immediately deployed to the village armament and began positions' enhancing. At a meeting of the Contact Group on November 29, the issue of unauthorized seizure of territories by Kiev was raised. A proper international response has not yet followed.
