Russian Federation is to grant its citizenship to millions Donbass refugees, reports the Russian Federation’s President, Vladimir Putin, taking the floor at the international discussion club “Valdai”.
“Such an order was received by our government, our establishments and other governmental bodies. It should be done carefully, taking into consideration social consequences, readiness or non-readiness of social infrastructure. I believe it is fair. We ought to support those people, and if they want to stay, we are to provide them with such an opportunity. We are working on it now,” said Putin.
According to the Russian President, there are over a million refugees in Russia.
“That is the Ukrainian trouble. Deindustrialization takes place, grand enterprises cease their operation, Russian outlet is lost, no one needs their products,” said Putin.
He said that the high-tech Ukrainian industries are in a difficult situation, but he hopes that "this will pass one day", including due to the interaction of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Answering the question about Russian-Ukrainian relations, Vladimir Putin underlined that Moscow will make every effort to remedy the situation.
