President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko proposed to the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to send an additional 3 billion hryvnia ($ 115.4 million at the current rate) to build an ammunition production plant under NATO standards, as well as purchase of weapons. He said this on Monday at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
"I made a proposal to build an ammunition plant, with the introduction of modern technologies, in full compliance with NATO standards, which will ensure the compatibility of manufactured ammunition in the main caliber. It is proposed to allocate a financial resource of 1.4 billion hryvnia," he said.
According to him, the plant will allow not only collecting ammunition, but also providing production from own raw materials.
