President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko called unacceptable the law passed by the Polish Seim on responsibility for propaganda of the ideology of Ukrainian nationalists and called on Warsaw for dialogue.
The Seim (upper house of parliament) of Poland the day before passed a law on criminal responsibility for the propaganda of the ideology of Ukrainian nationalists, the denial of the Volyn massacre and the allegation that the Poles were aiding the Nazis during the Second World War.
"I am deeply concerned about the decision of the Polish parliament: the historical truth requires frank conversation and dialogue, not bans. The assessments contained in this decision are absolutely biased and absolutely unacceptable," Poroshenko wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
According to him, Kiev remembers in the first place "common victories and struggle against totalitarian regimes."
"The adopted bill does not correspond to the declared principles of strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland, I call on Poland to objectivity and dialogue," the Head of State said.
