President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko signed a decree on Wednesday that approved the implementation of the Annual National Programme under the auspices of the Ukraine - NATO Commission. This was reported by the press service of the Head of the Ukrainian State.
"To approve the Annual National Programme under the aegis of the Ukraine - NATO Commission for 2018," the message said. The text of the document states that this year particular attention will be paid to "informing the public about the Euro-Atlantic integration of Ukraine."
The programme is a document that directs and regulates the whole complex of cooperation between Kiev and the military-political bloc. It includes political, economic, defense (military), resource and legal aspects, as well as issues related to security.
"The main priority in the process of deepening Ukraine's cooperation with NATO with a view to gaining membership in this organization is the harmonization of Ukraine's legislation with the legislation of NATO member states in the field of security and defense," the programme says.
As previously reported by the government of Ukraine, within the framework of this programme, the country in 2018 will hold 444 events.
In March, Poroshenko ordered the preparation of draft constitutional amendments that would strengthen the country's Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
