Patriotic action The St.George's Ribbon started in Transnistria

The traditional patriotic action The St.George's Ribbon devoted to the 71st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War started on Friday at the republican stadium in Tiraspol.
'A remarkable action which stirs up our attention, the activity for us to remember by which price there was won happiness, the peaceful sky for the generations living in the peaceful land after 1945,' said the Deputy Minister of Education Irina Levitskaya.
Here the first St.George's Ribbons were tied to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and guests of the action. After the end of the ceremony several tens of school and university students went along the city streets, handing to all passersby the symbols of memory of events of the Great Patriotic War. The action will be prolonged till May 9 and will pass in all the cities and areas of the republic. It is planned that this year about one thousand volunteers will take part in it.
For millions of people not only in Russia, but also abroad the St.George's Ribbon is a symbol of memory, connection between generations and military glory.
