The LPR People's Militia urges the OSCE to investigate Vesyolaya Gora incident sparkling a conflict between the SMM patrol and the locals of the township over one of the patrol members congratulating local citizens on Ukrainian constitution day.
A resident of Vesyolaya Gora told the Ministry's hotline service that an OSCE SMM patrol arrived in the town and one of the monitors congratulated him on occasion of the holiday, celebrated in Ukraine but not in the LPR. Other locals joined the conversation and told SMM that such actions just worsen the ongoing conflict and fuel the irritation of Donbass residents. It turned out that the patrol member who provoked the conflict was a Ukrainian citizen.
"The OSCE SMM principles of operation raise concerns," said the People's Militia spokesman Andrey Marochko.
"SMM report alleged that armed members of LPR People's Militia threatened the OSCE patrol because of their congratulation. There are no proves to such allegations, but the fact is that the OSCE SMM trespassed beyond their mandate, which clearly provide for their neutrality," he said.
"I ask the OSCE SMM top officials to investigate the incident because the provocative congratulation made by their employee just fuels the conflict and leads to further allegations towards Republican residents," Marochko added.
