The formal reason for the arrival of the foreign ministers of Germany and France in Kiev at the beginning of this week was the upcoming negotiations on the Minsk Agreements in the format of the Norman Quartet scheduled for March 3 in Paris. However, during the final press conference the heads of the European foreign ministries "leaked" that what worried them most at the moment was the internal political instability of the Ukrainian authorities, reports The Politnavigator.
The publication notes that in the situation of the actual collapse of the coalition in the Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine there is neither full-fledged government nor the current parliament, which does not allow to implement the points of the Minsk Agreements.
The European leaders understand this, but the Ukrainian politicians seem to be satisfied with the situation as it is. The Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, after hearing the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, assured them that "together, preserving the unity, we will be able to make the Russian Federation fully implement the Minsk Agreements’. That is, the Prime Minister has once again struck everything down to Russia, having somehow forgotten that Russia is not a party to the Minsk Agreements. On the other hand, Yatsenyuk did not report to Steinmeier and Herault what the government of Ukraine was going to do to overcome the political crisis. Because, apparently, he does not know himself what will happen next.
The publication pointed out that the Ukrainian political forces accuse each other of corruption and provoking a political crisis, which does not promise any stability in the country.
On the whole, now in the country everyone is against everyone again. It is power that is at stake. The Europeans with their calls for a speedy resolution of the problems with the Minsk agreements are clearly a third wheel here.
