Berlin and Paris presented a list of areas of Donbass for priority forces and heavy weapons' disengagement, according to a joint statement by the German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron on the results of telephone conversations in the "Normandy format."
It is emphasized that "the disengagement of military units and the removal of heavy weapons has to be a priority."
The leaders also instructed the tripartite Contact Group "to identify such zones in the next meeting on August 2". They also were discussing the withdrawal of forces in the three "pilot zones", the decision on which the group adopted in September last year.
The heads of the "Normandy Four" called upon to withdraw troops and weapons from positions in Stanitsa Luganskaya, under the control and supervision of the OSCE observation mission.
The statement says that OSCE observers should be provided with safe access to all areas of Donbass. Also, the leaders agreed to support the mutual steps of the parties in Donbass to resume economic relations.
