DPR delegation in Minsk stated a threefold increase in number of AFU attacks

During a meeting of the Contact Group on the peaceful settlement of the situation in Donbass, the delegation of the Donetsk People's Republic stated threefold increase in the number of Ukrainian attacks in the first three months of 2016. It was stated by Victoria Talakina, the spokesman for the DPR representative in Minsk Dennis Pushilin.

‘According to the Ministry of Defense, for the first three months of 2016 the number of attacks has tripled: the number of violations of the ceasefire has increased from 412 to 1,212, the number of attacks from 2,828 to 7,683. These figures were voiced in Minsk today. If we add to this the gradual occupation of the "grey areas" by the Ukrainian military and escalating the situation near Gorlovka and Dokuchaevsk, picture will be depressing, she said.

Talakina noted that the DPR delegation had expressed extreme concern for the safety of civilians and further prospects of the ceasefire.

‘We are unlikely to achieve peace if, performing one point of the agreement, we will break the previous,’ said the press secretary of the head of the delegation.

Representatives of the Defense Ministry of the Republic have repeatedly stated that recently the Ministry has recorded a significant increase in the number of attacks. Especially in the   Gorlovka and Donetsk areas. Including the facts of the Ukrainian military using heavy weapons. One of the flagrant attacks with the use of artillery occurred on the night of March 23 to 24. On that night, the Ukrainian troops shelled Makeyevka where four civilians were injured, 16 houses damaged.
