The situation in the Donetsk People's Republic remains tense.
Over the past day, there were registered 74 occasions of ceasefire violations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The following localities underwent the most intensive enemy shellings with application of weapons prohibited by the Minsk Agreements: Zhabichevo, Yasinovataya, Yakovlevka, Dokuchayevsk, Yelenovka, Kominternovo, Leninskoye, Sakhanka, Spartak, the area of the Airport, and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. In total, 24 Republic’s localities were shelled with the AFU’s heavy artillery (152mm and 122mm calibre), tanks, mortars (120mm and 82mm calibre), as well as IFV and armoured personnel carriers’ arms, antiaircraft guns, grenade launchers, and small arms.
As a result of the AFU fire, seven houses were damaged: in Trudovskiye village on Lukyanenko St., 17, Krasnaya Zvezda St., 56, Karnavalnaya St., 77; in Dokuchayevsk locality on Vatutin St., 9/47, Tsentralnaya St., 85/31, Gaidar St. 6, Telman St., 6. It was managed to avoid casualties among civilians.
Inhabitants of the occupied city of Mariupol inform that, due to the spread rumours about the imminent offensive of the DPR Armed Forces, the AFU soldiers massively purchase civilian clothes in order to conceal their belonging to the AFU ranks in case of the situation’s escalation and disappear among civilians.
In this regard, it has been established that the moral and psychological state of personnel of the 501st battalion of the 36th separate marine brigade was characterized as low, and, therefore, military personnel do not wish to extend contracts with the AFU. It was revealed that at that moment the battalion’s personnel were numbering 352 people (which is estimated as 73% of the manning level), including some 300 soldiers planning to resign from the Armed Forces. Thus, in April-May 2017 the manning level will be no more than 20%.
