While distributing diapers for physically challenged people, who are living in the South of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), the DONi Press News team went under heavy shelling from the Ukrainian army on the locality of Kominternovo on Thursday.
“Skirmishes began after 11:30 AM, first with some isolated shootings, becoming more and more loud and frequent as we were approaching Kominternovo," said DONi Press correspondent Christelle Neant.
"While there we heard many heavy shells flying over us or falling no too far from us. We had to interrupt the humanitarian help distribution, and give the remaining diapers to the social worker of Kominternovo," she continued.
"One of the shells hit the road on which we went to Kominternovo just 10 minutes after we passed there. When we came back we could see a big hole in the road, but it was too dangerous to stop”, stated Christelle Néant.
In each civilian house that the DONi Press team visited, the journalists could see holes done by mortars or artillery shells, bullets of AK-74, remains of BMP-1 shells and shrapnels, which fell in the morning or the day before.
"All these houses are far from the DPR army positions, thus nothing could justify their shelling by the Ukrainian army. Just more war crimes done by Ukrainian soldiers who do not mind about the people on which they send shells, but that they pretend to “liberate”," Neant concluded.
All the inhabitants told that these shellings are occurring daily, both during night and day time. The Ukrainian army lets no rest to the civilians who are living there since almost three years now.
