Wedding news: American journalist married Donetsk bride
On Saturday, the well-known American freelance journalist and independent humanitarian missioner Patrick Lancaster got married to a bride from the Donetsk People's Republic, Nadezha. The couple got married in the church of Petr and Fevronia in the Donetsk capital. A wedding ceremony with a great party was arranged in Makeyevka hotel, located close to the Donetsk city.
Patrick Lancaster has been covering the war in Donbass over three years. In the beginning of the war he became famous from the cooperation with Brittish journalist Graham Phillips. Patrick has been continuing his working independently both in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, and he also has spread his work from journalism to humanitarian missions.
The american journalist didn't had any Russian language skills in the beginning, but he manage to find a local woman of his life, Nadya, who, on her part, had no English skills at all. When couple met, Patrick was covering destruction from a Ukrainian shelling in a civilian district, where he met for first time his future wife in a heavily shelled house in the outskirts of the Donetsk capital. That happened well over two years ago. Today Patrick and Nadya have also a son, born in the DPR just about a year ago.
Saturday's wedding party collected lots of journalists and media staff, local and international people. Events were also covered by several media. Patrick Lancaster's humanitarian aid missions have won hearts and minds of Donbass people and hundreds, maybe already thousands of people, are today highly grateful to Patrick for his continuous work from supporting and helping people who suffer most from the ongoing war in Donbass.
Also the Head of the Lugansk People's Republic, Igor Plotnitsky, knows well Patrick's achievements and efforts to deliver the truth about the war in Donbass. A top delegation from the LPR participated in the wedding party, which was led by the Chairman of the LPR Trade Union, deputy of the People's Council, Oleg Akimov. He gave a speech, also written in the framed letter, signed by the Head of the LPR, and handed over the official gifts, wishing all the best to the new American-Donbass couple.
Many people from the DONi Donbass News Agency were also in the wedding, and certainly we all here in the newsroom wish only the best for the brave and important Lancaster's family, which keeps helping the victims of the war and keeps spreading valuable information among the western population about what is really happening here in the former Ukraine: #savedonbasspeople!
Watch Patrick Lancaster in the Youtube, and we recommend to participate and support his transparent and independent humanitarian missions.
