DPR Head proposes to call 'Easter truce'
Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko has out forward an initiative to declare an "Easter truce" in Donbass.
"On March 5 this year, the 'spring truce', which can be called one of the most successful ceasefires, came into effect. It has been generally observed and there is hope that it would be permanent. On the eve of the great Christian holiday, I propose an 'Easter truce' be declared already from the Holy Week (from April 1)," statement by the DPR Head said.
Zakharchenko also instructed the Permanent Representative of the Donetsk People's Republic to the Minsk talks, Denis Pushilin, "to determine the basic parameters of this ceasefire in a videoconference mode next week, rather than waiting for another Contact Group meeting."
"I urge all the parties to the negotiation process to support this initiative and take another step on the path towards peace in Donbass," Zakharchenko concluded.
