America aspires to creating hotbed of tension in Russian Federation's territory - DPR Head
On Thursday, March 22, a Question & Answer session with Head of the Donetsk People's Republic Alexander Zakharchenko took place in the format of a press conference. Answering a journalists' question, Alexander Zakharchenko stressed that the main goal pursued by the US is destabilization of the situation in Russia.
- In all wars Donbass was at the peak of the fiercest fighting. Both in the Civil and in the Great Patriotic War the desire to master this land eclipsed the reason of many. Now the land of Donbass is clouding the judgment of the United States, so it sends Ukrainians to fight against us. Do you think that coal and metal make the only interest of America?
America experiences the only desire – to create a hotbed of tension in the territory of the Russian Federation. Through our land, through our Donbass, they are trying to influence the processes that are currently taking place in Russia. Large-scale projects are being implemented there. Russia has begun to rise from its knees under the presidency of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Washington does not need a strong Russia. It needs a groveling, kneeling Russia, which obeys any order from Washington and dutifully barks like a dog. The West doesn't need the Russia, which can dictate its terms, frankly and honestly declare its power to the whole world, to live in justice and according to conscience. All our woes come connected with the desire of the West to put Russia on its knees. But Russia is our big and common Homeland. Many of us were born in the Soviet Union, when there was no division into Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan. There was a common country. Our ancestors shoulder to shoulder defended their Homeland, took Berlin, recovered the country, and built the state. Today, unfortunately, this is gone, but I hope that sooner or later it will happen. And we will be together. Therefore, our task is to prove to our Homeland with our struggle that we praise and remember it. And, like our ancestors, we can defend it and live together in our great big home.
Secondly, the loss of Donbass means for Ukraine the loss of a huge chunk of money. Do you remember when in 2014 they shouted that our coal industry was subsidized and we received billions of grants? It is the fourth year that we live. Our coal industry does not receive a penny of subsidies from the state budget, but is one of the branches to fill the country's budget.
Let's go back to agriculture. In many countries, including Ukraine, there are subsidy programs for agriculture. Believe me, this money does not reach the Ukrainian farmers. We live for the fourth year. The agriculture is getting back to its feet. This process is not so fast as we would like it to be, but the situation in which we found ourselves in 2014-2015 is not typical for any country. We solved problems that many countries have never encountered. The whole world looked at us and waited for us to solve these problems. And we are solving them.
I am confident that the year 2018 will bring a breakthrough for the economy, for the agriculture, for the coal industry, and for the country as a whole. And I hope that this year we will finally say that we have won. But until then, we have to fight, defend our extended Homeland, defend our small native land. This is the cross that we must bear, and I am sure that we will do it with honour. Let Washington choke on it as it has messed with the wrong people.
