Alexander Zakharchenko pardons convicted Ukrainians on exchange's eve
On the eve of the planned exchange of prisoners, on December 26, Alexander Zakharchenko met with the Human Rights Commissioner of the DPR Daria Morozova to discuss all the details of the process.
"As you know, a meeting was held in Moscow with the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Kirill, at which the tomorrow's exchange was discussed with the representative of Ukraine Viktor Medvedchuk. We decided on the '306 for 74' scheme that had been originally proposed by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill. Small changes were made to this scheme. I handed over to Medvedchuk a list of five girls who had been detained. Medvedchuk promised to work on this list. He also assured that he would get a pardon for the girl, who had had her arms torn off.
I want to focus your attention on the fact that the lists transferred earlier were confirmed. Your task is to make clarifications on people who have been released already.
At the meeting we also discussed the issue of grave crimes. Today I signed a decree on pardoning people convicted in the Republic.
For our part, we have done everything necessary, the exchange will take place, there will be no obstacles on the part of the Donetsk People's Republic, and I am sure that there will not be any on the LPR part either. Everything else is on the conscience of Ukraine. As I said in Moscow, we are waiting for Ukraine to fulfill its obligations.
In addition, it was confirmed that there are still people there who are not on the lists. Medvedchuk confirmed that this is the first stage, the work in this direction will be continued. I believe that it is necessary to raise this issue at meetings in Minsk," the Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, addressed Daria Morozova.
In turn, Daria Morozova noted that a meeting was held yesterday with all the competent departments, all the nuances of the exchange were discussed and prepared.
"Everything is ready on our part. The control will be implemented by specialists of the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of State Security. The Ministry of Healthcare of the DPR allocated two ambulances, because we know in what condition our fellows return," she stressed.
The Head of the Republic noted that representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate would be present at the exchange the next day:
"I hope that tomorrow's exchange will be successful. This is a significant event not for the DPR and LPR only, but also for a huge breakthrough in the Minsk negotiations."
The Head of the DPR also thanked the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill for the assistance rendered in the negotiations on the exchange of prisoners.
"This is a huge achievement of the Patriarch, he made every effort for the exchange of prisoners to take place. I hope our fellows will be at home soon," Alexander Zakharchenko concluded.
