The Head of the Donetsk People's Republic took part in the 3rd sitting of the Russia-Donbass Integration Committee, which was held on June 30 in Rostov-on-Don.
This time, the overarching theme of the meeting was education: achievements and prospects for cooperation between countries in this field.
The event was attended by: Andrei Kozenko – deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, coordinator of the Integration Committee; Viktor Vodolatsky – Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, Ataman of the Almighty Cossack Army of the Don, PhD in Sociology, Member of the Social Sciences Academy; Larisa Tutova – Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science; Vasily Rudoy – Deputy Governor of the Rostov Region; Representatives of universities of the Russian Federation, political scientists and academics.
Dmitri Trapeznikov, Deputy Chairman of the DPR Council of Ministers, Larisa Polyakova, Minister of Education and Science, teachers and heads of the Republic's educational institutions also represented the DPR at the Committee.
In his welcoming speech, Head of the Republic Alexander Zakharchenko noted the importance of the theme discussed by the Committee:
"It's no secret that the coup d'etat has succeeded in Ukraine largely through the young generation. This is due to the fact that over the years Ukraine has actively promoted nationalism and fascism. We have lost this youth...
Therefore, quality education will let any state look to the future with confidence. This is the thing that will open the eyes of young people to real history, to real heroes and achievements. Most importantly, it will prevent such mistakes in future. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for our education system to start working on the Russian Federation's standards as soon as possible. Today, it is very important to integrate young people into the semantic and cultural field of the Russian world. Important steps have been taken in this direction already. This year alone, 12 treaties and cooperation agreements were concluded with Russian educational institutions. This enables our students to renew their diplomas in Russia. The decisions to be adopted today will be implemented as quickly as possible," Alexander Zakharchenko said.
One of the main decisions set forward at the Integration Committee's meeting was the idea of establishing a Centre for Academic Development meant for supporting academic mobility and professorial advancement of scientific and pedagogical staff, students, post-graduate students, and doctors of science. Plans also call for developing a procedure for the recognition of academic degrees and titles of the Republic's scientific personnel, allowing scientific teams of Donbass to participate in grants competitions in the Russian Federation, as well as the opportunity to publish the results of studies of republican scientists in periodicals in Russia.
In addition to that, a decision was made to address the authorities of the Rostov, Voronezh, Belgorod, Volgograd, and Moscow Regions, Krasnodar Krai and the Republic of Crimea with a request to organize an internship, applied practical work for students of the Republic's higher educational institutions for intermediate vocational training at industrial enterprises of the Russian Federation.
As for school education, the Committee members agreed to expand the programme for the vacations of children from the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics in health camps of the Russian Federation, including the Artek ICC, and to contribute to the replenishment of school's material base. There were also planned activities meant for strengthening twinning relations between the DPR and LPR schools and Russia.
