Alexander Zakharchenko congratulates DPR residents on Republic Day
Dear compatriots! Fellow citizens!
I wholeheartedly congratulate you on the Day of the Donetsk People’s Republic!
Exactly three years ago, on May 11, 2014, the people of Donbass unanimously made their choice and voted for independence, freedom and justice at the Referendum.
During this short period, we have managed to achieve very much, to accomplish almost the impossible. We have built the state and managed to defend it from the external aggression. Our people are confidently looking to the future. State bodies are developed; the legal framework is improved. Our economy comes into its own.
This year a number of enterprises located in the territory of the Republic have passed under the legal field of the DPR. Now they return to the ranks one by one. Recently we launched the Khartsyzk Steel Wire Rope Works Silur, before that, the Donetsk Electrical Engineering Plant started its work. The metallurgy industry is reviving, coke and chemical enterprises are being prepared for launch. We continue to develop the coal mining industry, open new longwalls, and upgrade equipment.
The agro-industrial complex does not lag behind. The first Republic’s orchards have already been planted. Greenhouses have been built, on the shelves of our stores there are decent vegetables grown in the Donetsk land.
Today, the Donetsk People’s Republic pays much attention to the arrangement of international relations. Representative offices of the DPR are opened in Russia, in the Republic of Alania, in countries of the European Union. Integration with the Russian Federation continues: cooperation proceeds at all the levels: economic, cultural, sports, social and humanitarian level.
We have reached the level of development when we are able not only to cope with our problems on our own but also to help the people of Donbass who stay beyond the demarcation line. The Republic has launched the large-scale Humanitarian Programme for the Reunification of the people of Donbass. We help combat veterans of the Great Patriotic War; we are ready to provide our countrymen with medical assistance and to admit school leavers from the Ukraine-controlled territories of Donbass. We are, in spite of rather uneasy conditions, sincerely concerned about the ecological safety in the territories of that side.
Today we can say with certainty that the Donetsk People’s Republic has established itself as a state. And this is only the beginning. Three years ago, we have united at the Referendum, and we will keep doing everything for the constant development and improvement of our young state.
I congratulate everyone on the Republic’s Day! I wish you prosperity and progress. May peace prevail at homes and in families, and in souls — joy and trust in a bright future! Congratulations!
The Head of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko
