A US Air Force's RQ-4A Global Hawk UAV made a multi-hour reconnaissance flight along the demarcation line in Donbass on January 7, reports Interfax, referring to the Western sites that track military aviation flights.
The American long-distance drone bearing the number 12-2050 took off from Sigonella airbase in Sicily. The Global Hawk flew variable headings from north to south along the contact line in Donbass, but did not cross it.
The UAV entered the airspace of Ukraine from Romania to the north of Moldova and continued the flight to the east at an altitude of about 16 thousand meters.
A Global Hawk is able to stay in the air for up to 30 hours at an altitude of 15-18 thousand meters.
Moreover, the surveillance drone flew several times to a distance of about 40 to 50 km to the Belgorod, Voronezh and Rostov regions of Russia.
Taking into account the possibilities of conducting reconnaissance into up to 300 km, the RQ-4A Global Hawk drone could monitor the entire territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as a large part of the border regions territory of Russia.
On the way back after fulfilling the assignment in Donbass, it flew about 100 km northwards from the borders of the Crimea, in the sky above the Kherson region of Ukraine.
It should be noted that this is the second flight of an American drone at the demarcation line in Donbass in 2018. The first flight was detected on January 1.
