Ukraine will need to allocate at least $20 billion a year from the budget to the 'maintenance' of the DPR and the LPR, states Ukrainian political scientist Yury Romanenko, the Ukrainian media reported.
"The return of the DPR and LPR will lead to the fact that we will have a fiscal crisis, because there will be additional costs of several billion dollars - at best $20 billion a year. Money will be needed to cover infrastructure, a huge number of state employees who will need to be fed, security, and demining. This is in conditions when we spend 5% on the power block, 5% on covering debts, 5% on closing the hole of the Pension Fund," the political scientist said.
According to him, Kiev does not have money for the 'maintenance' of the Republics.
"There is a question from what budgetary resources we will close the problem of the DPR and the LPR. And it's good if Western partners give us tens of billions of dollars - this is an ideal situation in general, and then the return will pass without problems," Romanenko added.
We recall that during 2018-2021 Ukraine should pay more than $7 billion a year for a public debt.
