Two schools in Dokuchayevsk under Kiev's fire, damages reported

The Ukrainian military shelled Dokuchayevsk, two school buildings and residential tenement house were damaged at about midday, DPR Operational Command reports.

“The Ukrainian punishers shelled Dokuchayevsk today at about 12:00.  Buildings of two educational institutions in Dokuchayevsk town were damaged by the shelling on the part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the afternoon. Besides, a flat of the residential house on Melnikov Street 22/5 was on fire as a result of the shelling,” said a representative of the DPR Operational Command.

“As a result of the shelling of Dokuchayevsk, school on Lenin Street, 65 was damaged: a shell hit a staffroom, the front and windows were destroyed. Then, the boarding-school on Lenin Street, 40 was damaged as well: a shell hit a dormitory block,” added the representative of the DPR Operational Command.

Besides, the building of a hairdressing saloon sustained damages.

During the shelling, the pupils and personnel of the educational institutions were evacuated to bombshelters.  

According to DPR Representative Center Chief to the Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC) Ruslan Yakubov, the shelling of Dokuchayevsk town was conducted by the Ukrainian military from the village of Novotroitskoye.

"The shelling was conducted from the direction of Novotroitskoye, 40 shots with IFVs-2 were made, 29 grenades with automatic grenade launchers were launched. Besides, the Ukrainian military applied large-caliber and light small arms," pointed out Yakubov.

He added that at the moment, a group of the DPR representatives to the JCCC was working on the incident site.
