Some 10,500 buildings damaged in Donetsk during the war

About 10,5 thousand multi-apartment buildings and private houses in Donetsk have sustained damages of various degrees as a result of military operations in Donbass. Stated the acting head of the DPR capital's administration Alexei Kulemzin.

"So far in Donetsk there have been damaged eight thousand houses of the private sector, about a thousand of them are on the first category destruction list, which can not be restored," Kulemzin said.

In addition, about 2,500 apartment buildings have been damaged in the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic during the war.

Let us note that these data were stated at a round table on the People's Council deputies' interaction with the Donetsk administration in the sphere of providing the vitality of the city and creating comfortable living conditions for the population.

Donetsk was founded in 1869. Before the conflict in Donbass it had been the second most important city of the former Ukraine – sports, cultural and financial industrial center. In 2014, the inhabitants of Donetsk supported the resistance to a coup d'etat in Kiev and advocated the creation of the Donetsk People's Republic.

The capital of the Donetsk People's Republic was bombarded by the AFU for the first time on May 26, 2014. Then, a blow was struck at the Donetsk airport area. According to various estimates, from 50 to 100 people perished on the first day of shelling, half of them were civilians. Since then, the city and adjacent villages have been regularly shelled by the Ukrainian fighters.
