Russia and the United States discussed in detail the possibility of deploying a UN mission in Donbass, reported Russian presidential aide Vladislav Surkov following the meeting in Belgrade with US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker that took place on November 13.
"The Russian initiative to deploy UN forces in Donbass was discussed in detail," Surkov said.
At the talks, the US representative conveyed the additions to the Russian version of the resolution on the deployment of the UN mission in Donbass.
"American friends passed their proposals to our draft resolution of the Security Council - twenty-nine paragraphs, three of which our delegation found acceptable," the Russian presidential aide said. According to him, the parties decided to continue work on convergence of positions.
At the meeting, Surkov and Volker expressed solidarity that "the Minsk agreements should be implemented."
"To do this, it is necessary to accelerate the fulfillment of Kiev's political commitments while strengthening security in the conflict zone," Surkov added.
The current meeting of representatives of the Russian Federation and the United States was the third this year. Surkov and Volker's previous talks took place on October 7 in Belgrade and August 21 in Minsk.
