Russia opens four more criminal cases on crimes against Donbass population

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened four more criminal cases on the facts of the shelling of civilians by the Ukrainian forces, this was reported on the official website of the department.

"Despite the agreements, Ukrainian servicemen continued shelling localities and civilian objects," the report said. "The main investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated four more criminal cases on the grounds of the crime under part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code ("The use of illegal means and methods of warfare")."

According to investigators, from September 15 to September 18, servicemen of the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine, by order of high-ranking officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, carried out a heavy artillery bombardment of civilian objects, located in the village of Trudovskiye and the city of Donetsk.

As a result of the attack, four civilians were wounded. Thus, the military violated the protocol on the cessation of the weapons use in Donbass and its memorandum, as well as the provisions of the convention on the protection of civilians during the war and its Additional Protocol II.

"The motive for these crimes, as before, was the political and ideological hatred of the Ukrainian forces, related to the refusal of the Donbass population to recognize the legitimacy of the current authorities and the desire to establish their own administrative and territorial entities," the department noted.

It is also reported that the investigation will figure out the involvement in the crimes of particular officials from among the Ukrainian security forces.
