The adopted US decision on the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine is sovereign, but it does not benefit the settlement of the situation, only exacerbates it, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated following the results of the BRICS summit.
"It is a sovereign decision of the United States to sell weapons or supply them for free, and we can not influence this process as a country that is not a recipient of this assistance, but there are general international rules and approaches. The supply of weapons to the conflict zone does not benefit the peace, but only exacerbates the situation," Putin said.
Let's recall that on August 24 it became known that the US had approved the supply of military equipment to Ukraine for $175 million. US Secretary of Defense James Mattis also promised to expand cooperation with Ukraine in the field of defense.
On the same day, US State Department spokesman Heather Nauert said Washington had not yet made a formal decision regarding the provision of lethal weapons to Ukraine.
It's worth noting that, against the background of such statements, the United States has already delivered sniper rifles and a batch of PSRL-1 grenade launchers to Ukraine, as journalist Yuri Butusov reported on Facebook.
