The New York Times, which is considered the mouthpiece of the Democrats, has published an article by Andrew Higgins and Andrew E. Kramer "Schooled in Scandal: What Makes Ukraine a Hotbed of Intrigue."
In the article the authors smash the SBU, accusing it of corruption.
"Controlled by Mr. Poroshenko, the S.B.U. has become a tool in domestic political and business battles, with anti-corruption activists accusing it of working to undermine, not help, their cause," the journalists write.
Observers believe that the article is a signal to the higher ranks of the SBU, intended to ensure their loyalty to the "mikhomaidan" [the new Maidan, named after Mikhail Saakashvili] and neutralize Poroshenko's power capabilities in the fight against the protesters.
