Lugansk Defense: Situation Report, 05/15/2017

The situation in the LPR People’s Militia responsibility zone underwent no considerable changes and remains tense.

Over the past day, the enemy committed two violations of the ceasefire.

Our units’ positions in the vicinities of Kalinovo locality were bombarded. When attacking, the AFU applied mortars of 120mm and 82mm calibre, automatic grenade machine guns, and small arms. A total of 68 projectiles and shells were launched onto the Republic’s territory.

According to our reconnaissance, a comprehensive inspection was launched in the 24th AFU brigade since May 13, during which a shortage of weapons and ammunition was detected. The facts of the shortage of fuel amounting to five tons of diesel fuel and the absence of three URAL vehicles were also revealed.

Furthermore, a commission of eight officers from the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Supreme Command arrived to inspect the 14th separate mechanized brigade.

The epidemic of alcoholism continues in the AFU units, and results in the increase in the number of non-combat losses. For instance, on May 14, as a result of alcoholic intoxication and unqualified handling of weapons, a serviceman of the 93rd separate mechanized brigade fired himself in a leg with an AK-74 assault rifle.

The LPR People's Militia does not relax vigilance and gives priority to the Republic’s security. I would like to note that the LPR People's Militia soldiers do not react to provocations, adhere to the ‘silence regime’ and observe the Minsk agreements. Units keep switching equipment to the summer operation period.

We are aimed at a peaceful resolution of the Donbass conflict, but in case of the situation’s aggravation, the Republic’s leadership reserves the right to take decisive actions to liberate the territories seized by Kiev forces.
