Lugansk Defense: Situation Report, 04/15/2017

The situation in the responsibility zone of the LPR People's Militia is stable and tense.

Over the past day, there were registered two ceasefire violations by the enemy. Our units’ positions in the area of Kalinovo-Borschchevatoye and Sokolniki locality came under fire. During the shelling, 120-mm mortars, grenade launchers and small arms were used. A total of seven mortar shells and grenades were launched onto the Republic’s territory.

Despite the reduced number of shelling, the Ukrainian authorities still keep in view the forcible seizure of our territories. For this purpose, using the alleged ceasefire, the AFU command is regrouping forces and deploying prohibited weapons to the contact line:

- Near Popassnaya – there was detected the arrival of five tanks from the tank battalion of the 24the brigade;

- Near Mironovka – there were detected two camouflaged MLRS Grad.

Also, a train with heavy armoured vehicles of the AFU, namely tanks and self-propelled artillery mounts, arrived at the railway station in Rubezhnoye village. The arrived armoured vehicles proceeded in the direction of Luganskoye locality.

In addition, we continue receiving information on non-combat losses in the AFU, concealed from the higher command. Thus, as a result of excessive consumption of alcoholic beverages and, as a consequence, a quarrel that arose after afterwards, a serviceman of the AFU brigade received a bullet wound in the leg.

In turn, the People's Militia of the Lugansk People's Republic, despite constant provocations by Ukrainian forces, respects the peace agreements undertaken in Minsk.

Our units continuously carry combat duty, they constantly conduct training sessions in order to maintain high combat readiness.

This week, drills were planned on tactical and fire training, as well as combat target practice of tank and motorized rifle platoons.
