Ukrainian Ministry of Economical Development and Trade removed sanctions against Russian company “Yuzhtrans” which, which, before their introduction, supplied the country with the scarce coal of the anthracite group. The corresponding order, dated December 28, 2017, was published in the electronic database of records of the department.
On 30th October Ukrainian Ministry of Economical Development and Trade introduced sanction against 18 Russian companies “for actions which may harm national economical security’s interests”. Apart from “Yuzhtrans” the list includes Russian food industry companies, construction materials and equipment companies. Then the company’s director, Andrei Ivankov, reported that the sanctions imposed by Ukraine on the Russian coal supplier will have a negative impact primarily on the Ukrainian consumers themselves, and the company will find new sales markets within Russian Federation.
According to the Ukrainian State Fiscal Service, in the conditions of the Donbass blockade, for the period from January to October 2017, the country increased the coal import by 1.8 times in monetary terms in comparison to the same period of the previous year, up to $ 2.151 billion. The main supplier was Russia (55.7% or $ 1.2 billion); second place was taken by the United States (25% or $ 546.8 million), the third by Australia (5.4% or $ 116.4 million).
