The French authorities intend to approach the court to seek to close the Representative Office of the Donetsk People's Republic, stated the Head of the Representation Huber Fayard.
He recalled that the Kiev leadership had been exerting pressure on Paris since the opening of the office.
"I received a summons to appear in the Aix-en-Provence tribunal on January 11. The prosecutor requests the court to close our association. In his opinion, we do not comply with the Vienna Convention," Fayard said.
When asked why the association is required to comply with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the Head of the Representation noted that "this is a political issue."
"Our association does not threaten anyone, we are not a terrorist organization, and we were very surprised at this initiative. For example, our last action was the exchange of postcards between children from France and children from Donbass, which was not a terrorist attack, was it?" Fayard added.
Now the association is looking for a lawyer who would help to defend its existence.
"This situation will not interfere with our affairs. Whatever happens, we will continue working in one form or another... I will go to court, explain the issue, we'll see what happens next. So far, nothing has been lost," the Head of the Representation assured.
Fayard stressed that he would continue representing the republic in France.
"You see, Catalonia is not a sovereign state at all, but it has representative offices even in Paris. I am surprised at the French Foreign Ministry, which initiates a court on one occasion, and on the other one, that of Catalonia, everything goes smoothly, while the autonomy aspires to the French territory, whereas we have no such question raised," he added.
The Representation of the Donetsk People's Republic was opened in Marseilles on September 25. The French Foreign Ministry stated that it had been registered as an association, therefore it does not have diplomatic status and corresponding immunity.
