Elections of the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic will be held in the fall of 2018, the DPR Head, Alexander Zakharchenko, said on Thursday during press-conference.
"Elections (of the Head the DPR - ed.) will be held in autumn 2018. And Zakharchenko will run for the post in 2018," Zakharchenko told reporters.
We recall that, according to the current version of the Constitution of the DPR, the Head of the Republic is elected for a term of four years and cannot occupy this post for more than two consecutive terms (Article 57). The first elections in the DPR were held on November 2, 2014. Three candidates applied for the post of the Head. Zakharchenko won, gaining three times more votes than both his rivals got.
