The DPR People’s Council adopted a draft law on amending the DPR law on Special Measures for Protection of the DPR Interests (Sanctions), unanimously supported by all the 84 MPs present.
The chairman of the parliament Denis Pushilin explained that the measure was aimed against persons who harm the DPR.
“We extended the list of persons who harm DPR and fund the war, or commit other actions qualifying as harmful for DPR. The draft law envisages economic sanctions against such persons, which is logical and necessary.”
Pushilin added that the list of persons under sanctions is currently at law enforcement authorities.
The first draft law on sanctions was adopted on October 23, 2015 in emergency mode in two readings. It was a follow-up to the DPR Head Alexander Zakharchenko’s decree on sanctions against a number of oligarchs signed on November 2.
Sanctions include accounts freeze, ban on economic activities in the DPR, restrictions on importing or exporting cargo.
