DPR meets third anniversary of "Minsk-2" in conditions of boosted risk of hostilities – MFA

The Donetsk People's Republic has met the third anniversary of the "Minsk-2" in the conditions of boosted risk of resumption of hostilities in the region because of the Kiev policy. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, representative of the Republic in the political subgroup Natalia Nikonorova.

"Today marks the third anniversary of the signing of the Set of Measures to Implement the Minsk Agreements, a document that was supposed to put an end to military actions on the part of Ukraine and to become the foundation for a peaceful settlement of the conflict," Nikonorova said. "However, we are meeting the third anniversary of "Minsk-2" in the face of the increasing risks of resuming hostilities, the price of which is the lives of people on both sides of the contact line."

According to her, for three years of negotiations, Kiev did nothing in terms of implementing the political paragraphs of the Minsk agreements, among them - the procedure for the entry into force of the law on special status, the modality of holding local elections, the application of amnesty and amending the constitution of Ukraine. All this led to the stagnation of the negotiations.

"Thus, Ukraine demonstrates its lack of interest in restoring peace in Donbass, without taking any specific steps, but only creating a facade of activities implementing the Set of Measures. Nevertheless, we are confident that this grandstanding on the part of the Kiev authorities will not impress the guarantor countries of the Minsk agreements and international organizations that are increasingly aware of Ukraine's unreliability as a participant in the diplomatic process," she added.
