DPR karateka to take part in European Championship as part of Russian team

The DPR national karate team took nine medals in the Championship and the competition of Russia in oriental marital art in the discipline of Shotokan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism of the Republic.

"In the period from 2 to 4 March, the DPR national team took part in the Championship and the Competition of Russia in oriental marital art in the discipline of the Shotokan," the press service noted. "The competitions became the qualifiers for participation in the championship and the European Championship. As a result, the republican athletes won nine medals: three gold, three silver and three bronze medals."

It is specified that the competition gathered more than 1000 athletes from 40 regions of the Russian Federation. Meanwhile, the Republic was represented by a team of JKA karate (Shotokan style) consisting of 25 people. Milena Burba, Yury Semochkin and Anastasia Pavlenko won gold, silver ones were won by Ruslan Markov and Ilya Roldugin (two medals), Vitaly Lanets, Robert Gumurzhi and Milena Burba became bronze medalists.

"All prize-winners are included in the Russian national team, which in May this year will participate in the European Championship in Serbia," the Ministry of Sport said.

We add that the national team of the DPR included prizewinners of the Cup of the Ukrainian Cup in karate JKA WF, which was held in Donetsk on October 14-15 last year. Then the athletes from Donetsk, Torez, Gorlovka and Makeyevka, as well as three people from the Donetsk region, temporarily controlled by Ukraine, took part in it.
