The Second International Scientific and Practical Conference "The Environmental Situation in Donbass: Problems of Safety and Reclamation of Damaged Areas for Their Economic Recovery" began today in the capital of the Donetsk People's Republic.
The Forum was opened by the Head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko. In his welcoming speech, the Head of State noted the high risk of environmental disasters in the region due to Ukrainian aggression, as well as ignoring the problem on the part of Kiev.
"It is because of the difficult ecological situation in Donbass, when launching the humanitarian programme, I demanded from the Ukrainian side the admission of our specialists to the enterprises that are on the territory controlled by Kiev so that they can independently provide an adequate assessment of the situation. But we have not received an answer," the Head of State said.
The event is held in the Donetsk Botanical Garden. Among the participants there are also the Minister of Education and Science of the DPR Larisa Polyakova, the adviser to the presidium of the Russian Academy of Science, the professor and scientific leader of the conference Mikhail Zalikhanov, the staff of the universities of the Republic and the Russian Federation, students and graduate students.
About 150 people gathered in the conference hall of the botanical garden in total. The participants intend to determine the critical problems of the Donbass ecology, as well as to find ways to solve them by developing scientific and practical recommendations. The conference will be held in Donetsk for two days.
