DPR and LPR plan industry and trade cooperation agreement

A working meeting of the Heads of the Ministries of Industry and Trade of the Donetsk People's Republic and the Lugansk People's Republic took place in Donetsk on Friday, February 9.

"I would like to especially note in the framework of the protocol signed by the Heads of the DPR and LPR on the intentions to create a single customs area: the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics possess a unique industrial and scientific potential. With a view to renew the existing industrial relations, our departments are developing a plan for cooperation between enterprises, which will expand the market for the sale of products manufactured in the territories of our states and the existing raw materials base. At present, the total trade turnover between the Republics in 2017 has doubled compared to 2016, and has increased eight-fold in comparison with 2015. This figure should significantly grow in the near future," Acting DPR Minister Alexei Granovsky said.

During the working meeting, a discussion was held on the development and implementation of a road map for the interaction of industrial and trade enterprises of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

"Currently we are preparing a list of promising projects for the industrial complex enterprises of the DPR and LPR, and, once having agreed upon the issue with the Donetsk colleagues, we will begin implementing the road map. We are sure that many interesting and promising initiatives in the field of production will help restore the industrial status of the entire Donbass," LPR Minister of Industry and Trade Dmitry Bozhich said.

At the end of the meeting, Alexei Granovsky said that a Memorandum of Intent on Joint Cooperation in the Sphere of Industry and Trade will be signed between the industrial departments of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics in the near future.
