Donetsk Defense: Weekly Situation Report, 07/21/2017

Good afternoon!

Last week, in the formations and military units of the Armed Forces of the Donetsk People's Republic, control exercises were held with the command staff and subunits in the form of tactical-combatant and tactical fire training following the results of the conducted coordination of the units.

The DPR Armed Forces together with the security agencies of the Republic continue to conduct active measures to counter terrorism and combat enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 49 ceasefire violations.

The enemy launched seven projectiles of 122-mm calibre, 192 mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm calibre onto the Republic’s territory.

In total, over the past week the enemy committed 298 ceasefire regime violations and fired 1092 rocket projectiles, tank shells and mortar rounds at the territory of the Republic.

AFU shellings affected 34 settlements of the Republic, in nine of them 21 building were damaged and destroyed.

Also, during artillery shelling by the AFU, transformer substations were damaged, as a result of which the settlements of Leninskoye, Dzerzhinskoye, Kominternovo, Novaya Tavria and Zaichenko were left without electricity supply.

Mostly the bombardments affected the Petrovsky, the Kuybyshevsky and Kievsky districts of Donetsk, as well as settlements of Alexandrovka, Trudovskiye, Yasinovataya, Dokuchayevsk and Leninckoye.

As a result of AFU attacks, one female civilian was killed and six were wounded, also eight defenders of the Republic died, five were wounded.

Compared to last week, the number of shells fired by the AFU increased by two hundred munitions.

Also, over the past week, according to official reports, the OSCE SMM has recorded the absence of heavy weapons in the storage areas of the AFU:

Multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 Grad – eight units;

Self-propelled howitzers Akatsia – five units.

Tanks (T-72) - four units;

In accordance with the agreements reached, the units of the DPR Armed Forces, fulfilling the task of protecting the Republic, observe the ceasefire regime, which, in turn, is not ok with the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In the current circumstances, the headquarters of the so-called 'ATO' zone applies the following tactics: through its press officers and controlled Ukrainian media, false information about fictitious shellings from our side presented, after which the artillery units, which have been put out to the firing positions in advance, carry out massive shelling of residential areas. Subsequently, these attacks are presented to the public as a fire from the DPR.

For this purpose, in the area of Mariinka, the responsibility zone of the 92 separate mechanised brigade commander Kokorev, there arrived a group of journalists, whose task is to record the results of the shelling of Mariinka allegedly from the DPR side. The commander of this brigade received an appropriate commander's order in advance, as we know for certain, to fire at the locality and subsequently accompany the journalists there and demonstrate the results of the shelling. A similar scenario is used by the commander of the 72 separate mechanised beigade, the war criminal Sokolov in Avdeyevka.

Also, Ukrainian commanders recalled their favourite tactics, actively used earlier, namely, the placement and shooting of artillery from residential areas of settlements. Such facts were noted in Krasnogorovka locality, where the units of the 55 separate artillery brigade, under the command of the war criminal Brusov, conducted a provocative shelling of the DPR territory, hoping that we would engage fire on the settlement.

An attempt to conduct another provocation in the town of Dokuchayevsk with the use of 122-mm agitation shells, issued by artillery units of the 28 SMB under the command of the war criminal Zubovsky, did not achieve the expected result. I want to remind you that this kind of artillery systems is prohibited by Minsk agreements, moreover, such shells are stuffed with leaflets themselves are of great destructive power, and lead to significant damage to residential buildings and infrastructure, as well as the death of civilians.

I appeal to the representatives of the OSCE Mission to take all necessary measures and force the Ukrainian side to observe the reached agreements, including for the period of the "harvest truce".

Recently, our reconnaissance has been recording the departure from the so-called 'ATO' zone of radical nationalists, both separately and in small groups. According to the information we have, the Kiev masters recall the illegal armed groups of radicals they control and concentrate them in the capital and its environs.

Similar actions have already taken place in Kiev in the winter of 2013-2014 during a coup d'état and the overthrow of the legitimate authorities. The difference from those sad events is that at that time the nationalists did not have as much weapons and ammunition as they do now.
