Donetsk Defense: Weekly Situation Report, 07/14/2017

Good afternoon!

Last week, in the large and military units of the Armed Forces of the Donetsk People's Republic, trainings assembly were held, involving battalion, squadron commanders and their deputies In the course of the control exercises on tactical, fire training, as well as during fire management classes, the commanders, in general, showed excellent and good results.

According to the plan for the preparation of the DPR Armed Forces, next week there will be instructor and methodical trainings with commanders for conducting battalion tactical exercises.

The DPR Armed Forces together with the MGB and other security agencies of the Republic continue to conduct active measures to counter terrorism and combat enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

Over the past 24 hours, the Armed Forces of Ukraine committed 31 ceasefire violations.

The enemy launched two projectiles of 122-mm calibre, 33 mortar-shells of 120mm and 82mm calibre and five tank-shells onto the Republic’s territory.

In total, over the past week the enemy committed 251 occasions of the ceasefire regime violations and fired 556 rocket projectiles, tank shells and mortar rounds at the territory of the Republic.

AFU shellings affected 33 settlements of the Republic, in two of them 12 houses were damaged and destroyed. In addition, in the locality of Trudovskiye, electricity supply was damaged, ten streets were de-energized.

Mostly the bombardments affected the Petrovsky, the Kuybyshevsky and Kievsky districts of Donetsk, as well as settlements of Trudovskiye, Yasinovataya, Dokuchayevsk and Leninckoye.

As a result of AFU attacks, one defender of the Republic and two civilians were wounded.

Also, over the past week, according to official reports, the OSCE SMM has recorded the absence of heavy weapons in the storage areas of the AFU:

Multiple launch rocket systems BM-21 Grad – one units;

Tanks (T-64 and T-72) - five units;

Anti-tank guns ("Rapira", 100-mm) - six units;

Towed howitzers (D-30, 122-mm) - six units;

Self-propelled howitzers Gvozdika – seven units.

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces under the leadership of Muzhenko started organizing and staffing activities related to the reorganization of a number of volunteer nationalist battalions. These actions caused a wave of outrage and discontent among nationalists, who are accustomed to dictate their terms to the command of the so-called 'ATO' and to act in their own discretion.

Besides the additional special units of the national guard and military police, which have been pulled up to the 'ATO' zone to pacify the disobedience demarches of volunteer battalions, the military prosecutor's office has set the task of initiating criminal cases, up to accusations of separatism, against the most authoritative and threatening leaders and commanders of the nationalist divisions.

The personnel of the AFU units on the contact line have repeatedly refused to comply with the military orders of their command. This is confirmed by the actions of the 59 separate mechanised infantry brigade in the Mariupol direction, namely, the personnel of the 10th motorized infantry battalion of this brigade, which does not want to continue the civil war, made useless the entire ammunition of 120mm Molot mortars.

These mortars, which are produced by the enterprises of Pyotr Poroshenko, have a sad glory in the ATO and, after the death and injuries of dozens of Ukrainian soldiers, they were called "threshers" - killers of artillerymen. The brigade command instituted an inquiry into this fact. But considering the general mood among the personnel of the artillery units, it was decided to hide this fact from the higher command and to write off ammunition for military operations.

It's worth noting the fact that the commanders of the AFU units in the so-called 'ATO' zone are increasingly using participation in hostilities for lucrative purposes. Namely, we received the updated data from the indifferent Ukrainian servicemen that the commander of the mechanized company of the 28 separate mechanised brigade gave an order - to open fire on one of the units of his own brigade in the vicinity of   Granitnoye settlement, having reported to the higher headquarters about the fake breakthrough of the DPR Armed Forces' subversive group. Later, using personal acquaintances at the headquarters of the 'ATO', the officer presented this performance as a manifestation of courage and 'heroism', hoping to receive the star of "The Hero of Ukraine".

It should be noted that the 28th brigade arrived in the so-called 'ATO' zone relatively recently, to replace the 30 separate mechanised brigade, and the commanders of the units hasten to become famous in the military field at any cost.
