Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 10/21/2017

Over the past 24 hours there were registered 22 ceasefire violations on the part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

In the Donetsk direction, the enemy applied artillery, tanks, mortars, IFVs, different types of grenade launchers and small arms. 14 tank-shots were made, one projectile of 122mm caliber, 11 mortar-shells of 120mm caliber and 39 mortar-shells of 82mm caliber were launched on the territories of eight localities.

In the Mariupol direction, the enemy launched 22 mortar-shells of 82mm caliber onto the territory of the Bezymennoye locality. Besides, Ukrainian punishers used IFVs, different types of grenade launchers and small arms.

In the Gorlovka direction, the enemy shelled the locality of Zaitsevo with grenade launchers and small arms.

When defending the DPR, one Republican serviceman died.

As a result of the shelling on the part of the AFU, three house-buildings on Tsentralnaya Street, in the locality of Dokuchayevsk were destroyed. There are no victims among civilians.

Yesterday, at 6:15pm, an observation post of the JCCC representatives in the locality of Bezymennoye underwent shelling once again, the AFU from the locality of Shirokino launched a mortar-shell of 82mm caliber and one projectile of 152mm caliber on it.

The Ukrainian military leadership keeps “patching the holes” on the contact line which have appeared due to an increase in the cases of desertion owing to servicemen from other subunits and military units.

Thus, our intelligence detects the beginning of tension between the command of the 72nd military infantry brigade which is to be subjected to rotation in the nearest future, and seconded servicemen.

The reason of disagreements and even of the open conflict was that the bloodless brigade went to the rear. And all the servicemen who were seconded from the other formations remain in the trenches.

Moreover, nobody is interested that freelance servicemen are on the frontline for 1-1,5 year without leaving.

At present, the officers and soldiers who are dissatisfied with their situation are preparing an open appeal to the military and political leadership of Ukraine with a request to pay attention to their problems.
