Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 10/12/2017

Over the past 24 hours, 24 violations of the ceasefire regime by the Ukrainian Armed Forces were recorded.

In the Donetsk direction, the enemy used mortars, infantry fighting vehicles, various grenade launchers, and small arms. Six mortar shells of 120-mm calibre and 62 of 82-mm were launched on eight localities: Krutaya Balka, Yasinovataya, Yakovlevka, Mineralnoye, Zhabichevo, Dokuchayevsk, Elenovka and the Petrovsky district of Donetsk.

In the Mariupol direction, the enemy fired 42 mortar shells of 82-mm calibre at Leninskoye locality, launched two rocket projectiles on Bezymennoye. IFV cannons, various grenade launchers and small arms were used when attacking the villages of Kominternovo, Leninskoye, and Dzerzhynkoye. As a result of the bombardment, the damage was received by one house-building in the settlement of Kominternovo at the address: Kirova St., 8.

In the Golovka direction, the enemy attacked Zaitsevo locality from grenade launchers.

Defending the Republic, one DPR Armed Forces soldier perished.

According to our data, after the incident at the 48 arsenal in the Vinnyitsa region, the command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces initiated a large-scale verification of the conditions for storage of ammunition in the remaining warehouses of rocket and artillery armament.

So, at the military arsenal in the village of Ichnya in the Chernigov region, there were revealed serious violations when storing ammunition.

It was found that in July of this year more than 200,000 hryvnias were allocated for the repair of the cargo platform in the places where ammunition and other weapons were stored. As it turned out during the inspection, the certificate of the executed works did not correspond to reality. In particular, these works at the facility have not been completed, and the proper monitoring of the quality and completeness of the work carried out by the commission of the military unit had never been carried out.

In addition, during the audit, a number of violations of the requirements for the organization of ammunition storage and placement, protection of the unit's territory, fire safety etc. was revealed.

Based on the results of the check, a criminal case was instituted against the deputy commander of the military unit.

Investigative measures also revealed numerous violations of safety procedures for the storage of explosive substances, not only in permanent storage areas, but also in RAW storage facilities located in the war zone. There is a significant shortage of ammunition as a result of the massive arms trade on the black market.

According to our sources, in the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the moral and psychological condition of the personnel is deteriorating, which in turn leads to a grave violation of military discipline.

So, on October 9 on the positions of the 28 separate mechanised beigade, a mechanical engineer, driver of IFV-2 sergeant Babich S.A., was detained. Being in an inadequate condition, a serviceman threatened to blow himself up with a grenade if he was not given a legal vacation. By the forces of colleagues, Babich was taken to the psychiatric ward of the military hospital in the town of Chasov Yar.

According to the testimony of his colleagues, Babich had not been on vacation for more than a year. Against the background of the regular use of alcohol and pressure from the command, the serviceman was driven to despair and went insane.

A round table with the participation of the Military Prosecutor of the Western Region of Ukraine, Major General of Justice Oleg Sinyuk, held in the forensic centre of crime in the city of Lvov, confirms that such incidents have long acquired a mass character. The round table was entirely devoted to crimes motivated by the moral and psychological decline of the AFU personnel.
