Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 02/18/2018

The situation in the Donetsk People's Republic remains tense.

In the Donetsk direction, the enemy used various types of grenade launchers and small arms against the Petrovsky district of Donetsk.

In the Gorlovka direction, the enemy fired four 120-mm and ten 82-mm mortar shells at the areas of Zaitsevo, Dolomitnoye and Mikhailovka settlements.

In the Mariupol direction, the area of Dzerzhinskoye settlement underwent shelling. The enemy applied 120-mm and 82-mm mortars, firing 12 shells, and various types of grenade launchers and small arms.

In total for the past day, seven violations of the ceasefire regime by the Ukrainian occupants were registered.

The command of the so-called "ATO" is concerned about the growing number of cases of disobedience and anti-government protests on the part of uncontrolled Ukrainian nationalist groups, in particular the Right-sector militants. Nationalists constantly remind the AFU command of their exclusivity and a special role in the coup d'état that took place in 2014. The calls for support of the people's impeachment of Ukrainian President Poroshenko are increasingly heard among the militants.

According to the information we possess, Ukrainian nationalists in groups, with weapons, leave the front lines in the so-called "ATO" zone and concentrate in the capital of Ukraine. The Right Sector fighters are also agitating to disobedience their comrades from regular units of the AFU.

In such a way they responded to proposals from the leadership of Ukrainian nationalist parties, movements and formations, voiced in Kiev, to join efforts to hold protests in the capital. Knowing this, SBU officers stepped up their work to curb the anti-government activities of nationalist militants and prevent mass riots in the AFU units on the front line.
