Donetsk Defense: Situation Report, 01/10/2018

The situation on the contact line remained tense over the past 24 hours.

In the Donetsk direction, 12 mortar shells of 82-mm calibre were launched by the enemy on three localities; the enemy also resorted to IFV cannons.

In the Gorlovka direction, Zaitsevo locality was hit from grenade launchers and small arms.

In the Mariupol direction, AFU units targeted Lenonskoye locality, having launched 17 mortar ammos of 120-mm calibre, as well as fired six mortar ordnances of 82-mm at Kominternovo, also resorting to IFV.

As a result of shelling from grenade launchers, the roofing of a house-building in Dokuchayevsk in Rabochaya Str., 90, was damaged.

Another case of tripping a mine occurred yesterday in the 25th separate airborne brigade in the area of Avdeyevka.

At this time, paratroopers' Ural car ran into the engineering barrier, and now is unrecoverable, and three soldiers who were traveling in the cabin were wounded.

At that, according to the press center of the so-called 'ATO' zone headquarters, for 24 hours there were no casualties.

I would like to note that the car moved in the column of trucks being third in a convoy, and there is indirect evidence that the blasting was carried out remotely. In view of the fact that the column passed away from the line of contact and through the territory controlled by the unit of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, it is likely that the nationalists were involved in undermining it.

In addition to blowing up on their own and ‘brotherly’ mines, as well as self-fire, the army of Ukraine in the so-called 'ATO' zone daily loses dozens of servicemen as a result of ordinary infectious diseases. The most common in December 2017 became ARVI and, oddly enough for this time of year, dysentery.

So, for December of the last year, treatment for dysentery in hospitals and medical institutions of the so-called 'ATO' has been received by than half a thousand servicemen.

Such a situation in the Ukrainian Armed Forces took shape due to the 'excellent' security provided by logisticians, doctors and "fathers-commanders".

The medical service sells medicines before they are sent to the so-called 'ATO' zone, backup folks write off and sell thousands of cubic meters of wood intended for furnaces, and supply poor-quality and overdue products to military units, and commanders sell out the remnants of material resources that have barely reached the formations and units.

A striking example of this is the already famous for its theft 28th separate mechanized brigade, where the brigade commander Zubovsky O.V. and his deputy in the rear Grusha O.A., hoping that the brigade will leave the zone of the so-called

'ATO' zone before the cold weather, sold all winter diesel fuel. As a result, unexpected frosts in recent days below 10 degrees just put out of action all the diesel equipment in the brigade.

It is noteworthy that all the fuel sold was written off for combat training, allegedly conducted by the brigade. Although we understand perfectly well that all unit's combat training is taking place on the front line, and the construction fields and targets are house-building, as well as residents of Dokuchayevsk settlement and its environs.

The saddest thing is what is happening all along the front line.
