Donbass Reunification Programme participants bullied in Ukraine

Ukraine continues hampering the participation of residents of Kiev-controlled cities of the Donetsk region in activities under the Humanitarian Programme for the Reunification of the Donbass people. In particular, a teacher, who had taken schoolchildren to the Russian Federation to participate in the educational programme, became one of the victims of the Ukrainian regime, Denis Pushilin, the DPR plenipotentiary to the Miksk talks, stated at Contact Group meeting.

"The submission of athletes and artists to Mirotvorets [The Peacemaker] web-site for participation in competitions and contests in the territory of the Republic, persecution and political pressure is not a full list of actions undertaken by the Ukrainian side. In addition to political influence, the Ukrainian authorities do not disdain to apply legal penalties. For example, the situation of a teacher who brought schoolchildren to Russia (about 70 pupils of Ukrainian schools) to participate in the educational programme of Rossotrudnichestvo "Hello, Russia!" deserves special attention. In August 2017, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine asked the SBU to give a legal assessment of this incident. The transfer of children to Russia aroused outrage among Ukrainian politicians. Many Ukrainian social workers called the trip a ‘crime’ and demand punishment.

One can only guess what this punishment will be, knowing Ukraine's radical attitude to everything connected with Russia," Pushilin said.
