Patients from the Ukraine-controlled part of Donbass, who appealed to the V. Gusak Institute of Urgent and Reconstructive Surgery with oncological diseases, will receive the necessary treatment of any complexity, reported director of the institution, Professor Emil Fistal.
"We have a laboratory for cell and tissue culture, which enables us to provide assistance at the highest level using modern achievements in oncohaematological treatment. The Humanitarian Programme for the Reunification of the Donbass people is relevant for residents of the Donetsk region temporarily controlled by Ukraine. All applicants receive expensive medications for treatment absolutely free of charge," Fistal said.
The head of the clinic stressed that patients with hematopoietic system diseases like acute leukemia, tumour diseases of the hematopoietic and lymphatic tissues, and others were receiving treatment at the departments of adult and children's oncohaematology.
"We learned about the humanitarian programme from our relatives living in Donetsk. They told us that we could get free medical care within this programme. In the city where I live, there is even no haematologist, so I could not undergo qualitative diagnostics. And I couldn’t afford such treatment in Kiev or Dnepropetrovsk with my pension," a patient from the territory under Kiev's control noted.
Six people from the Ukraine-controlled part of Donbass, among them five adults and one child, have already received Oncohaematology treatment within the framework of the Humanitarian Programme for the Reunification of the Donbass people.
