Two participants of the Ukrainian military operation in Donbass, Wilhelm Krei and Viktor Khomyak, returned their military awards to the President of Ukraine Pyotr Poroshenko, the Osvobozhdeniye ("Liberation") Vinnitsa Movement reported on Facebook page.
A video is attached to the post. It depicts one of the military approaching the microphone and saying that after "brothers have been beaten" outside the Rada he does not want to keep the award approved by the president's signature. The other man also made a short speech, and then with the words "Pass, please, to Pyotr Alexeyevich" put his medal on the table in front of the Regional Council Head.
The incident occurred in the session hall of the Vinnitsa Regional Council after three unsuccessful attempts to open an extraordinary session. It is noted that the military were outraged by the actions of the authorities, who "repeat their predecessors' scenario."
"Pro-government political forces’ deputies of the Vinnitsa Regional Council by their presence at the extraordinary session demonstrated support of the authorities’ criminal orders. Veterans reject presidential awards in anger," the statement said.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs dispersed the camp of supporters of the Georgian ex-president, former governor of the Odessa region, Mikhail Saakashvili, set up outside the Rada building. The police reported on more than a hundred protesters detained and ten affected on both sides.
Saakashvili’s supporters assure that the action was legal, since the application for its perpetual holding was filed back in October last year. At the same time, the party activists allegedly left the camp more than a month ago, but there were still "military and veterans" of the operation in Donbass.
