Dialogue with Kiev on peacekeepers now makes no sense - DPR

Direct dialogue between Kiev and the Donetsk People's Republic on the issue of the presence of UN peacekeepers in Donbass is pointless until the Ukrainian forces completely cease fire and comply with the agreement on the withdrawal of forces and facilities from the contact line, Alexander Kostenko, the DPR People's Council deputy said.

"Direct dialogue with Kiev should be objective, so far, in my opinion, there is nothing to discuss, because Ukraine has not taken any concrete steps to implement the Minsk agreements. I recall that a comprehensive ceasefire and the withdrawal of Ukrainian weapons from the contact line is one of the main demands of the DPR. Without this condition, any talk about the introduction of UN security guards for OSCE observers in Donbass will remain nothing more than a polemic,"Kostenko said.

The Ukrainian authorities have long been calling on the world community to introduce a peacekeeping mission to Donbass. According to Kiev, the mission should be located throughout the Donbass region right up to the border with the Russian Federation. Kiev refuses to hold direct negotiations with the DPR and the LPR.
