Almost six thousand civilians have perished in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (the DPR and LPR) during the conflict that has been ongoing since April 2014, the Human Rights Commissioner in the DPR Daria Morozova and the LPR Ombudsman Olga Kobtseva reported within the framework of the TASS round table.
According to Morozova, in the DPR "4,572 civilians died, including 3,967 men, 605 women and 76 children under the age of 18."
"Only in 2017 in the DPR territory there were killed 278 people, among them two children, another 595 people received injuries of various severity, including 14 children," she concluded.
In the LPR, as Kobtseva has informed, losses among the civilian population have exceeded 1,300 persons.
"1,328 people, among them 33 children [perished]. These figures will be updated, greatly updated, there are a lot of unidentified burial places in our territory," she said.
Kobtseva explained that the lack of accurate data is due to the fact that the active phase of military operations occurred at the time when the Minsk agreements had not been not signed yet and numerous crimes were not recorded.
