On Monday, February 12, the Head of the Donetsk People's Republic, Alexander Zakharchenko, participated in a solemn rally in honour of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic's foundation centenary.
The event took place in the city-center of Donetsk near the monument to Artyom (Fyodor Sergeyev) - a revolutionary, a Soviet statesman and founder of the DKRR. Chairman of the DPR People's Council Denis Pushilin, Head of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement's Executive Committee Natalia Volkova, Deputy Chairman of the Ministers' Council Alexander Timofeyev, political scientist, historian Vladimir Kornilov, activists of the Donetsk Republic Public Movement, servicemen and cadets took part in the rally along with the Head of State.
"Today I am happy to congratulate you on the centenary of the foundation of the Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic. Exactly one hundred years ago our ancestors said "yes" to Equality, freedom, and justice. They said "no" to the West. The Donetsk-Krivoy Rog Republic was created in very difficult times - war, revolution, devastation. The DKRR was suppressed by superior enemy forces. Almost a hundred years later, we - descendants of those people, again said "yes" to freedom, equality and brotherhood! "No" to the West! Today we are building our Donetsk People's Republic under harsh conditions as well. We are rebuilding the economy, raising the industry. We are doing this for our children, for our future. A hundred years ago our ancestors lost, but we will not lose! We are for freedom, for equality and brotherhood. For the Donetsk People's Republic!" Alexander Zakharchenko said.
Flowers being solemnly laid at the monument to Artyom, Alexander Zakharchenko once again addressed the audience.
"Our ancestors left us a map. They listed Kharkov, Tavrida... But we will expand this map, we need Bessarabia as well. So, we will follow this map, and our own map will be larger than that of the DKRR,"Alexander Zakharchenko said.
